A Basic CAS Clothing Tutorial

Go here and get CasTextureUnitool.rar and CasParts.rar download to desktop and unzip. Then take the casparts file out of the main folder and place it into the CasTextureUnitool folder.

You will also need .NETFramework 2.0 from here,   Direct X Runtime from here and a DDS plugin for your paint program.

Open up the CAS

Select age group, male/female and type of clothing you want to change.

Click on Designs, Add New Design add New Blank. Select 3D Preview so the item shows up in a panel on the right.

Click on Textures, select Base Texture and then Find.

You will then get an image of the flat clothing, tick the alpha box click export and save somewhere. I have made a new file on my desktop called TS3Projects.

Open up the DDS in your paint program and modify it, you can change just the texture or the alpha or both.

In my paint program (Paint Shop Pro XI) I find the alpha by Selections/LoadSaveSelection/LoadSelection from Alpha Channel.

You can change the alpha.

Picture 6

Add some texture to the item.

Click replace, then commit and check the item, when you are happy with it add a pattern.

Save the file somewhere you can find it. Once you have finished place the file into MyComputer/C:/ProgramFiles/Electronic Arts/TheSims3/Mods/Packages/Skins

You can mess around with adding different patterns and changing categories of clothing in the part category, it’s fairly easy to work it all out once you know the basics.

Finished!
